CAN WE HAVE OUR CLASSROOM PLEASE?
CAN WE HAVE OUR
CLASSROOM PLEASE?
We don’t blame you all:
All your contributions
are not interventions,
In fact you provide,
and become Contents to be discussed,
You give a brick to us to
erect a palace,
Your saplings are left to
our care to be watered and tended,
Your dreams are passed
on to us to be concretized,
Your pride do come
towards us for refinement,
Your Inherited Maps are
handed to us to instill hopes,
Your envisioned future do
travel with us to be nurtured,
much works are queued
up before us, and don’t let them be fractured!
But do stop depositing the
irrelevant and the unwanted:
Into the four walls where
we interact with dear souls,
The class it is known,
where we manufacture goals,
They are not just
filled with benches and boards,
The place is truly a
knowledge mine and becomes a source of well-equipped road,
It is the broadened
realm and from there we talk to the stars,
Their involvement
pushes us to be Venus and marsh,
Your politicized cinema
and cinematized politics are at lost,
Have started supplying the
derogatory and negatory clashes,
What we committedly
instill cannot thrive upon several losses!
You might be ready now to
shower wishes:
Upon us, through and by
mechanical means,
The honeyed words and
moneyed modes,
We don’t ask them as we
have multiple elevated tasks,
Feel that we plead and
internally bleed,
For not being an
autonomized breed,
Only a noble teacher
must be permitted to regulate and lead,
We do character forming,
and therefore responsibly seed,
In the name of funding,
grinding and reminding there is a constant ride,
It is the domain of the
teacher and the taught, so please mind it and do abide!
Dr. U. Mahendran.
