I AM BLIND NOT DIFFERENTLY ABLED!

I  AM BLIND NOT DIFFERENTLY ABLED!

I am a human like you:

I Do possess what you all have,

But you construct me,

By pinpointing differences,

To brand me as differently abled!

Resting upon my anatomy:

You do trace out,

My lacks and vacuums.

With your gifted ability,

You sit-down to shape my disability!

As you experience,

My sleeps do give dream.

As you relish,

My tongue too has an appetite.

Then why I am treated as unusual?

Don’t tell often,

I am exceptionally unique.

I too fail, regret, rebuke.

I have the same day and night,

For me also, they go bright and dark!

I am not distinct:

A poison, or, a gun or a knife,

Would attack, destroy and kill me.

I don’t have rebirth,

As none have on this planet!

Am I dissimilar?

My hair and nail grow,

To the colour and size of yours.

So, as yours, my skin shine and decline,

To the shiny young, and feebly old!

Do you think I am unidentical?

But I am also being oppressed,

In the caste, sex, race and religion,

Doubly, cruelly, profoundly,

And intensely than your abled bodies!

Is my life divergent?

Brought and lulled by a mother.

Affected by the same climate.

articulate the language of my breed.

decayed by the common decease.

Am I incongruous?

Haven’t I got one head?

Do I have two bellies?

Are the fingers on my hand 50?

Do I have wings to fly?

I am not monster right?

Then, at once, stop calling!

Me as challenged or impaired,

Neither differently abled nor specially capable,

Leave it to me to pronounce proudly I am Blind!
